How the formula works

Bonus = salary × bonus percentage ÷ 100.

What the number means

A 10% bonus on a £45,000 salary is £4,500. The percentage is of the salary you enter. If the plan pays a percentage of a smaller bonus base, enter that base instead of the full salary. The result is the gross bonus before tax.

Questions

What if the person joined halfway through the year?

This page pays the full percentage. Prorate it with the prorated bonus calculator once you know the full-year bonus and the days in post.

Is the bonus taxed?

This figure is before tax. How much arrives in pay depends on the country and the payroll. The calculator does not estimate that deduction.

Can I enter a bonus that is more than 100%?

Yes, up to 200% on this page. Above that, multiply the salary yourself. A percentage over 100 means the bonus is larger than the salary.
